| Cray XT5 Family "Firsts" |
In December 2007, the Danish Meteorological Institute became the first Cray XT5 customer. "We are very excited that DMI selected the Cray XT5 system for its operational weather forecasts and climate studies," said Peter Ungaro, president and CEO of Cray. "DMI's challenging computing requirements are the perfect match for the unprecedented sustained application performance, reliability, exceptional manageability and lower cost of ownership the Cray XT5 system offers customers. We are proud that DMI will use the world's most scalable Linux-based supercomputer to meet their goals and continue to provide internationally acclaimed meteorological services."
On January 14th, Cray and Scotland's University of Edinburgh unveiled the new Cray XT4 ™ supercomputer, officially launching the first phase of the UK's High-End Computing Terascale Resource ( HECToR) project. Later this year, this system is scheduled to be upgraded to include a Cray X2™ vector system, making it the first Cray XT5h system and the industry's first integrated hybrid supercomputer. Read more

CUG 2008 Meets in Helsinki May 5-8 |
Hosted by CSC, the Finnish IT center for science, CUG 2008 will be held in Helsinki, Finland on May 5-8 at the Marina Congress Center. This year's theme "Crossing the Boundaries" reflects on how improvements in both computational science and high-performance computing have enabled coupled and cross-disciplinary simulations in many fields, such as earth system science, nanoscience, biotechnology and various fields of engineering. The CUG 2008 program will offer Cray users a wealth of information and the opportunity to learn and network with other users about how to achieve the best performance possible for your application.
Registration is now open with early bird rates through March 26. |

| Cray's Commitment to "Green" |
|
In early 2007 a team of Cray employees from across the United States, fully supported by Cray management, officially formed CrayGreen to "actively promote the conservation of resources and the preservation of the environment, as a business strategy and as a lifestyle choice." They began by identifying several key initiatives primarily around employee and facility power consumption, increased recycling efforts and improved resource efficiency opportunities. Cray's commitment to green strategies continues to be integral to all areas our company.
